The heart of this Signature Homes showhome is one big, confident room: a raked ceiling rising over open-plan living and dining, wide sliders opening straight onto the deck and the outdoor table, oak floors running warm underfoot, and light pouring in from three sides. Lovely to stand in. Genuinely tricky to dress. A space like this needs softness, but anything timid disappears under a ceiling that tall.

Danielle from Xtra Design didn't do timid. The drapes framing the sliders are the room's one big colour moment: a painterly wash of tan, olive and dusty blue that picks up the artwork, the olive throws, even the sage tones in the kitchen's fluted island. Pinch pleated so the colour falls in ordered columns rather than a jumble, hung wall to wall so the whole glass line softens at once. Drawn back, they frame the view to the deck. Drawn closed, they turn a big room intimate.

Around them, everything stays deliberately quiet. The tall windows flanking the sliders wear crisp white venetian blinds that manage glare without competing for attention, and that discipline runs through the whole home: white louvres carrying the light cleanly through the living spaces, and in the master, white shutters layered with a soft sheer against walls painted a deep, moody olive. Wide blades for privacy and light control, the sheer to take the edge off, and the room settles into the kind of dim, calm warmth you want at the end of a day.

That's the trick this home pulls off, and the reason it feels lived in rather than staged: one brave fabric where it counts, restraint everywhere else.
